Now in my early 70s the 'effort' involved in driving to the only legal beaches, in Sydney or River Island Nature Retreat (I update their website) has become almost too daunting.
I'm not expecting advice on this matter but feel like explaining.
I so enjoyed my one visit to Cap d'Agde, now quite a few years ago and also the 'legal' areas of the beaches in the Netherlands. It strikes me that we're all 'singing the same sad song!!' Nevertheless I'll keep hoping.
Again I want to explain that I not only enjoy being one with nature, when nude out there but I also like the 'leveller'-aspect. I went to a conscious dance workshop. The facilitator and I exchanged emails a week before the event, and I told her that to achieve the kind of freedom described, I would need to do it without clothes. I have been a nude model for art classes for 30 years, I told her, and I also wanted my dance to connect with my modeling.

So, in the opening circle of the six-hour Saturday session, we brought up my desire to dance nude. None of the other nine people had a major problem with it, and the facilitator encouraged everyone to dance through any discomfort they might feel. I spent most of the free dance time naked and free. Unfortunately, no one else got naked (I was the only male for most of the session until one other guy showed up for the last hour). The only comments I heard about my nudity were positive. It really was an amazing experience to be so vulnerable, so exhilarated, so free, and so blissful.Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07865501716995054495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1249062629251473871.post-881344622057607772014-07-15T19:17:42.934-06:002014-07-15T19:17:42.934-06:00Hi, I did a search for "Nude among textiles&q...Hi, I did a search for "Nude among textiles" and found your site. I recently had an experience that I hope to continue and that I hope will foster more acceptance for nudists. I did a write up of that experience that I thought your readers might enjoy. The comment format won't let me post the whole thing, so here is the first two paragraphs...

I saw an ad online a couple of weeks ago for a yoga-type free form dance class being held in a little over a week. It sounded a little too liberal, new-agey for my taste (I am of the Libertarian persuasion and a little skeptical of almost everything), but the class description got me thinking. It talked of primordial forces, being oneself, and eliminating barriers and other sorts of yoga-type things. I immediately thought that I'd need to do the class naked to really feel free. So, I took a shot and sent the instructor a email with some basic questions.

She and I exchanged a few emails before the workshop, and she at least seemed open to the idea of nudity, saying that no one had "gotten completely naked yet." I told her that I've been a nude model for art classes for 30 years and that the main reason I wanted to do the class was to aid in my posing. She agreed that the class would help and that I would be a perfect fit for it.

Danhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07865501716995054495noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1249062629251473871.post-47001442343854995172014-05-18T13:42:12.039-06:002014-05-18T13:42:12.039-06:00My position on "Naked and Afraid"? Especially since the show's popularity is already making spin-off show ideas involving nudity. (Naked Buying, Naked Dating.) Even though it's blurred out, any show which contains non-sexualized nudity will get people thinking that it's not a big deal.Academic Naturisthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13187137403380281966noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1249062629251473871.post-48018296347151881602014-05-13T11:31:32.534-06:002014-05-13T11:31:32.534-06:00What is your position on the show "Naked and ...What is your position on the show "Naked and Afraid". Although not about nudism it does show how a man and a woman can live together without clothes and it not be sexual.

I guess some would say it shows the the negative about nudity in that without clothes one doesn't have the protection that clothes can bring to harsh environments with sunburns and bug bites. But nudists always say "clothed when necessary" and of course bug spray and sun screen can take care of that which they aren't allowed on the show..

But the show also shows the fun of nudity especially swimming without clothes. And again, the most important aspect really is that man and woman can be naked together, work together naked, without sex coming into play.

Usually on the show there's a part where the man and woman first meet, sometimes they "look each other over" and that's it. The shock, what there is of it is over and they soon forget about at least the social part of being nude.

So, yeah, despite the hardships I believe it's a pretty good portrayal of social nudity. Also, there's a practical purpose of the nudity to see if people can survive in their natural state. The nudity is almost secondary to the goal of survival without much help from anything but their own skills. So it really isn't done for much shock value unlike most nudity you see on television (unfortunately you do have them blur the genitals, but that's the case even with "native documentaries" these days.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1249062629251473871.post-74231363383163284872014-05-11T20:58:30.053-06:002014-05-11T20:58:30.053-06:00Let me first say I have no issues with what you ar...Let me first say I have no issues with what you are saying. Nate, sad to say your religious comment is true and does not have to be. Religion and Naturist/Nudism can co-exist. For us who call ourselves believers and are naturists/nudists just believe that we are practicing is how God meant us to be in the beginning. However there is still a lot to be taught that being naked is not the same as sexuality. We as a group are not perverts or weird. Talking about it at the right times and without confrontation is the best. Yes I speak up when it is appropriate, and when I can further the cause. Now for joining groups and clubs, the problem is they cost money and most are expensive. A lot of us that would love to be part of these groups or clubs can not afford it and unlike the UK we do not have many "free" places to natural in nature. Only when legislation is changed will we start to see our numbers grow. Tough spot to be in, I'm doing the best I can. When discussing energy (power)...The energy dilemma:
When discussing energy (power) consumption for the average person, it is assumed that we are speaking of residential usage.
In the selection of energy for household appliances, there are three energy choices. Natural or propane gas versus electric.
This leads to the selection process considerations.
Cost of appliances vs cost of operation
This decision will often be made on what is the least expensive for me. Not what is best for the environment or most efficient in total system usage of BTUS.
Why? Because most people do not have the technical information or knowledge to make the correct decision.
If a person is concerned about the greater good as in environment, climate warming, clean air, USA energy reserves, the exportation of dollars to purchase fuel oil,
and etc then the only choice is to select Natural Gas.
When total system efficiency is considered, the most wasteful use of BTUS of energy is an electric appliance.
Example:
A domestic gas water heater burning natural gas at 100,000 per therm is 75% to 80% system efficient at the source.
An domestic electric water heater at 4500 KWH is about 20% total system efficient based on natural gas being consumed at the power plant.

A natural gas fired water heater transfers 20% to 25% of its heat to the atmosphere.
An electric water hear transfers 80% to the atmosphere.
Most major appliances are selected by builders who make decisions based on what costs less to install, what advertising co-op money he will get from the appliance manufacturer or electric company, or what reduction in the cost to install underground electric wiring. Also, how many points he will get on a free for two, trip to a luxury resort for a week.

Also, builder do not care if your energy costs are higher in an all electric home because he is not paying the utility bills.
What is going on in America is that the people making the selection on appliances do not give a rats ass about all the other concerns that the people and the government talk about.
If a person goes out to buy a gas cooking range to replace a gas cooking range, the retail appliance salesman will try to push that person into an electric stove, often using fear, because he can make more money, some of it in spiffs, bonuses and etc, that the buyer is not aware of.
It is unwise to talk about solar, windmills and all the other fads until a person has the correct utilization of energy in his home. Even considering that, most of the add ons do not have a pay back to support their costs.

Richard Mason
Energy MattersRichard Masonnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1249062629251473871.post-46126168786274159852014-04-18T09:46:38.166-06:002014-04-18T09:46:38.166-06:00Get active, get the word out: nudism/naturism is h...Get active, get the word out: nudism/naturism is here to stay. I'm a young guy not in bad shape and I had no untoward or sleazy advances, sure the odd person had a good look (male + female) but I guess that is human nature, at no point did it feel dis-respectful or seedy. More appreciative I guess, definitely no inappropriate sexual behaviour or anything.

The first day I was at the bottom of the beach and there were more guys but there were also a few couples around too and it was all very pleasant, I went for a dip in the water and a walk up the beach and it was very peaceful.

The second day I went back to the bottom of the beach and it was all older guys, so after a while I did move to a more mixed area, but it was fine nobody said or did anything to make me want to move. I guess I just felt more comfortable with more of a mix of people around

So yeah I guess I am just posting to say maybe you got it on a bad day (or I got it on a couple of good days) as I really enjoyed it.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
